Hargrave's swim team returned yesterday at 19:30 from Newport News. Now it's like a tradition to have successful meet results. Hargrave Aquatics is one of the smallest teams in Virginia, but our team is preforming very well. Either on the same level as some of Virginia's best swim teams, or even better.

USA Swimming vs. Nova Senior Meet

Nova Aquatics swim team of Richmond hosted the meet. Our cadets led almost all the events. In the finals, Hargrave won the 200y Free relay. Nova Aquatics, a Gold medal USA swim club, is the #1 club in Virginia. Nova came in second, by half a pool, behind Hargrave's team.

Varsity Golf vs. VIC Golf Tournament

The VIC Tournament was played at Vista Links in Buena Vista on Monday. We lost to Carlisle by 3 strokes, 331-334. We beat the third place team, VES, by 1 stroke. There were a total of 12 teams participating. Stephen Boyd and Andy Thomasson made all-conference by shooting 79's. Coming in third was Clayton Moss at 86 and fourth, with a 90, was Steven Hancock. Rounding out the team was Patrick Carey at 95 and Walker Gladding with 97. The boys knew we could have repeated as champions. So close! We finished the season with a 12-2 record.

This was the last meet with Coach Wiebking. Along with solid performances by all the kids, it featured a bus trip and Food! for the ride back home.

Chelsea Law was the leader for the team at this meet, picking up two Age Group cuts for the AG Championship meet on March 15. As with most of her mid-championship meets, she was the ‘darling stud-monster.’ She was great fun to watch.

USA Swimming vs. SWAT New Year’s Frosty Invitational A/BB/B/C

Members of Hargrave Aquatics Gold and Silver swimming groups had a great meet at Radford’s New Year’s ‘Frosty’ Invitational, January 6-7, 2007. Five athletes represented Hargrave, and all of them placed top three at least once out of all the events they swam. The meet was sponsored by USA Swimming, Inc. and Virginia Swimming, Inc. Both organizations promote development and success of American swimmers in regional, national and international competitions.
