Varsity Basketball vs. Holy Cross School

The Tigers suffered another tough loss to Gaels of Holy Cross. Hargrave led for much of the first half, but a late second quarter push by Holy Cross sent the Tigers to the locker room trailing by a point. The second half started out much like the first, with both teams swapping baskets. However, some costly turnovers and cold shooting led to the Gaels taking the lead for the remainder of the game. Overall it was a very good effort against one of the best teams in the VIC. Leading the way for the Tigers were Victor Ibeh (12 pts., 8 rebs., and 2 steals), Nick Barr (12 pts., 2 steals, and 2 assist), Andrew Pughsley (11 pts., 4 rebs., and 2 steals), and Mark Manning (10 pts., 3 steals, and 4 assist). Chris Smoot (7pts., 2 rebs., and 2 assist) and Jeffrey Oboite (6 pts., 7 rebs., and 2 steals) also had solid games coming off the bench. With the loss the Tigers drop to 5-9 overall and 3-7 VIC. Hargave returns to action on Thursday, Febuary 2nd. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 PM.

The Tigers suffered a heart breaking loss Friday at North Cross by a score of 77-76. It was a great effort by our team in a tough enviroment. Neither team was able to pull away in the second half, with the lead changing hands each trip down the court. However, in the end the Tigers came up short when Nick Barr's twelve footer fell short with only two seconds left in regulation. Leading the way for the Tigers was Andrew Pughsley (26 pts., 4 rebs., 3 steals, and 3 assist) and Victor Ibeh (23 pts., 9 rebs., and 2 steals). Starters Nick Barr (10 pts., 2 steals, and 4 assist) and Andrew McDonald (4 pts., 11 rebs., 2 assist, and 4 blocks) also contributed with solid games. Chris Smoot (4 pts., 2 steals, and 4 assist) and Karson Mott (5 pts., 4 rebs., 3 assist, and 3 steals) chipped in with solid performances coming off the bench in support. With the loss Hargrave falls to 5-8 overall and 4-6 VIC. Hargave returns to action on Tuesday, January 31, when the Tigers travel to Holy Cross. TIp-off is scheduled for 6:30 PM.

The Tiger got a much needed win on Thursday by defeating the Wildcats of Dan River High School 64-47. Leading the way for Hargrave was Andrew Pughsley (16 pts., 4 rebs., and 2 steals), Victor Ibeh (14 pts., 6 rebs., and 2 steals), Mark Manning (12 pts., 3 rebs., and 3 assist) and Nick Barr (10 pts., 2 rebs., and 2 assist). Jeffrey Oboite (6 pts., 6 rebs., and 2 blks) and Andrew McDonald (4 pts., 7 rebs., and 4 blks) also had solid performances on both ends of the floor. With the win Hargrave's record improves to 5-7 overall and 3-5 VIC. The Tigers return to action on Friday, January 27th, when they will travel to Roanoke to take on North Cross. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 PM.

Leading the way for the Tigers was Nick Barr (12 pts., 5 rebs., 3 assist) and Victor Ibeh (7 pts., 10 rebs., and 2 steals) With the loss The Tigers drop to 3-5 VIC and 4-6 overall. Hargrave returns to action on Monday, January 16th, when the Tigers will be travelling to Fork Union. Tip-off is scheduled for 4:30.

After a tough overtime loss on Thursday night, Hargrave was able to bounce back and secure a hard fought victory over Westover Christian Academy. It was the Tigers best defensive performance of he year. The Tigers were able to come up with 23 defensive rebounds, 17 steals, and 7 blocks as a team. Leading the way for the Tigers were Nick Barr (13 pts., 3 rebs., and 3 assist), Andrew McDonald (12 pts., 8 rebs., and 5 blks.). Andrew Pughsley (11 pts., 3 assist, and 3 steals), and Victor Ibeh (11 Points, 5 rebs., and 2 steals). Carson Mott (11 points, 4 rebs., 3 steals), Chris Smoot (2 pts., 5 assist, and 2 steals) and Jeffery Oboite (6 pts., 7 rebs., and 2 steals) all contributed with solid performances. The Tigers got their second victory of the young season with a hard fought victory over the Tornados of Timberlake Christian Academy. Leading the way for Hargrave were Juniors Andrew Pughsley (18 pts., 6 rebs.,and 3 steals), Danny Wrigley (10 pts., 15 rebs., and 2 blks.), and Mark Manning (6 pts., 6 assist, and 3 steals). Freshman Victor Ibeh (15 pts. and 9 rebs.) also had a solid game coming off the bench. Junior Jeffrey Oboite (2 pts., 9 rebs., and 1 blk) contributed with a solid performance by pulling down some huge rebounds on the defensive boards. Once again it was a total team effort with nine players contributing to the final score. With the win the Tigers record improves to 2-0 overall and 2-0 in VIC. Hargrave returns to the hardwoods on Thursday, December 8th, when the Tigers will host Roanoke Catholic. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 PM.

Leading the way for Tigers was Andrew Pughsley (17 pts., 3 steals,and 3 assist), Mark Manning (13 pts., 6 rebs., and 8 steals), Carson Mott ( 12 pts., 7 rebs., and 3 steals), Danny Wrigley (11 points, 8 rebs., and 2 blks). Andrew McDonald (8 pts., 8 rebs., and 3 blks) also contributed with a great performance on both ends of the floor. It was a total team effort, with every player contributing to the win. With the win Hargrave's record improves to 1-0 overall and 1-0 in the VIC. The Tigers return to action on Tuesday, December 6th, when they will travel to Timberlake Christian Academy. The Tigers lost a hard fought game to the Gaels of Holy Cross by a score of 75-65. Leading the way for the Tigers was Clarence Conrad (27 pts., 7 rebounds, and 3 steals) and Ryan King (16 pts., 7 rebounds and 2 steals). Senior James Eversley (5 pts., 10 rebounds, and 5 blocks) also had a solid game on both ends of the floor. Junior, Andrew McDonald (10 pts., 6 rebs., and 4 blocks) had another solid game coming off the bench for the Tigers. With the loss the Tigers finish their season with a 12-9 overall and 11-5 VIC record.

The Tigers won their first round VIC tournament game against Fishburne Military Academy by a score of 68-50. Leading the way for the Tigers were Ryan King (27 pts., 10 rebounds, and 2 steals) and Clarence Conrad (25 pts., 4 rebounds, and 4 steals). Junior, Andrew McDonald (6 pts., 5 rebounds and 5 blocks) had a solid game off the bench for the Tigers. With the win Hargrave improves to 12-8 overall and 11-4 VIC. Hargrave will now move onto the semifinals and will play the winner of the Miller/Holy Cross game. The game will tip-off at 9:00 AM at Lynchburg College.

Leading the way for Hargrave was Seniors James Eversley (20 pts., 8 rebs., 4 assist., and 4 steals), Ryan King (15 pts., 7 rebs., and 2 steals), Clarence Conrad (13 pts., 4 rebs., and 3 steals) and Terry Teal (10 pts., 5 assist, and 4 steals). Junior, Andrew McDonald (10 pts., 5 rebs., and 3 blks.) also had a great game coming off the bench in support. With the win the Tigers record improves to 11-8 overall and 10-4 VIC. Hargrave returns to action on Thursday, February 24th, when the Tigers will travel to Lynchburg College for the opening rounds of the VIC tournament. Tip-off is scheduled for 3:00 PM.
