The Tigers improved their record to 12-2-1 with wins over Fishburne Military School and North Cross on Thursday. Varsity Wrestling vs. Rustburg Invitational

The Tiger wrestling team came in third place in the Rustburg Invitational over the weekend. The Tigers scored 335 points while Stanton River High School took home top honors with a team score of 371.5. Hargrave completed the tournament with a 7-2 dual meet record; this brings the team’s record to 10-2-1 on the season. The following wrestlers placed at their individual weight class: 140 Jared Reutter 1st place, 135 Garrett Torney 2nd place, 171 Scott Flanagan 2nd place, 189 Paul Bennett 2nd place, 119 Jon Sasser 3rd place, 145 Wes Shea 3rd place and 215 Daniel Lambi 3rd place. The Tigers return to action on Thursday when they host a tri-match beginning at 4:00 PM.

Varsity Rifle Team vs. Randolph-Macon Academy

The HMA Marksmen fired a patient match, hit their marks and defeated RMA for the second time this season. All of the top four shooters fired above 255. The total of our "non top 4" shooters for this match (961) exceeded the opponents top 4 score by 8 points. Forrester, our youngest 9th grade-1st year shooter fired a 248. This was indeed a noteworthy performance. The average top 4 standing score for the match was 78.5, which greatly assists in increasing match scores. Top 4: Haymes 266 (match high) Perry 263 Lazo 259 Frank 258. Other Scores: Forrester 248 Gladding 248 Kroh 243 Johnson 222. High Position Scores: Prone - Perry 97 (match high), Standing - Perry 81, Kneeling - Lazo 93 (match high) The team will host the final match of the regular season next week and then travel to VMI the following week for the VMSRL State Match.

On Saturday Hargrave hosted the 2004 Tiger Invitational wrestling tournament. The Tigers had a great day on the mat in claiming 1st place out of the twelve-team field. The Hargrave team finished with 164 points, followed by Miller School with 142 and Chatham High School 136. The following Tiger wrestlers placed:

The Tiger Shooters fired their highest score of the season and defeated Fork Union. This final match closes out the regular season and the Tigers Shooters finish 8-0 for an undefeated season.

The tiger shooters fired a steady match and defeated MMA. Kroh fired a personal best and is the second of the first year shooters to make the top four of the match.
