USA Swimming vs. Age Group Championships

The rough and tumble swimmers of Hargrave Aquatics arrived at George Mason University for 2004 Long Couse Age Group Championship ready for action. Brittany Abbott, Jessica Abbott, Jacob Conner, Jesse Conner, Jennifer Murphy and CJ Olp represented one of the largest and fastest teams Hargrave has yet fielded at the meet.

Varsity Basketball vs. Miller School

May 26, 2011

The Tigers fell to #5 Miller is a road contest, 100-54. Hargrave fell behind early and could not stop the potent offense of the Mavericks. Hargrave was limited to 19 first half points. The Tigers were lead by Mike Rodriquez with 15 points and Brian Sigmon with 11 points. Hargrave will return to action Saturday February 2, 2008. Tip is set for 6:00 at the Covenant School.

USA Swimming vs. Virginia Summer Awards

Hargrave Aquatics Seniors stole the show with several impressive performances. CJ Olp captured two Age Group (AG) Cuts and a first in the 200m Breaststroke. Brittany Abbott hit her stride as she earned AG cuts in the 200m Backstroke and 1500m Freestyle. Drew Bennett came close to earning his 1500m Freestyle and 200m Backstroke AG cuts. Jacob Conner earned a 400 IM AG cut. Jennifer Murphy captured her 50m and 100m Breaststroke AG cuts, while smashing the competition. Sami Norman led the Novice group with several successful swims. This was an outstanding meet for almost everyone that attended. Great job.

Varsity Basketball vs. Holy Cross

May 26, 2011

Hargrave returned to the win column with a 76-32 victory over the Gaels of Holy Cross. Five players scored in double figures and the Tigers controlled the game from the opening tip, taking a 39-18 lead into the locker room. It was much the same in the second half, as every Tiger saw action in the decisive victory.

USA Swimming vs. THE Ultimate Challenge

Hargrave Aquatics traveled en masse to Abingdon, Virginia, for it's annual pilgrimage. As usual, the meet did not disappoint. Several swimmers posted personal best times, with the bulk of great swims coming from the Novice swimmers. Great show, Hargrave.

Varsity Basketball vs. Carlisle School

May 26, 2011

The Tigers played host to the Chiefs of Carlisle on Friday night. A short handed Hargrave squad gave a terrific effort in a home loss, falling 64-50. The Tigers were lead by Mike Rodriquez with 22 points, James Dean with 12 points, and Corey Thompson with 8 points.

Varsity Basketball vs. Miller School

The Tigers hosted conference foe and highly ranked Miller School on Thursday evening. In a hard fought game, Hargrave fell 80-64. The game opened fast paced as Miller raced out to a 20-18 first quarter lead. The Tigers did not back down, coming back in the second quarter and seizing a 40-35 half time lead. The third period was all Miller, as the Tigers struggled to take care of the ball. Turnovers continued to plague Hargrave in the fourth and the Miller School converted free throws to ice the game.

Varsity Basketball vs. Virginia Episcopal School

May 26, 2011

Hargrave played a make-up game against the Virginia Episcopal School on Wednesday evening. The Tigers started sluggish, falling behind by five in the opening quarter. They could never gain momentum as the game wore on, eventually falling 70-54. Hargrave was lead by Quenton Coples with 25 points and 13 rebounds, James Dean with 12 points, and Brian Sigmon with 8 points. The Tigers return to action January 24, 2008 to take on Miller.

Varsity Basketball vs. Fork Union

May 26, 2011

Hargrave traveled to Fork Union where they lost to the Blue Devils, 73-63. Traveling short-handed, the Tigers played competitively throughout the game. Down six points at halftime and eight at the end of the third, the Tigers rallied in the forth to get within two points. Unfortunately, the rally fell short as two starters fouled out of the game and Fork Union was able to hold on for the win.

USA Swimming vs. Sharks Aquatics Club Invitational

Seven Hargrave Aquatics members participated in the team’s first foray to Shelby, North Carolina. They swam fast and had fun, despite the thunderstorm and rain Sunday morning. Swimming fast in rain was a new experience for everyone.

Varsity Basketball vs. Carlisle School

The Tigers suffered their second conference loss of the season to the Chiefs of Carlilse, 57-47. After getting out to an early lead, the Tigers fell behind by one going into half-time. The second half was a back and forth affair, with the Chiefs finally pulling ahead in the forth quarter. Hargrave was lead by Adrien Lucienne with 12 points and Quenton Coples with 10 points and 10 rebounds.

Varsity Basketball vs. Roanoke Catholic

May 26, 2011

Hargrave suffered their first defeat of the season at the hands of the Roanoke Catholic Celtics. A sluggish start and torrid shooting by the Celtics put the Tigers in an early hole. By the end of the first quarter the score was 19-8 in favor of the visitors. While the second quarter was more balanced, Roanoke Catholic managed to increase its lead to 14 before halftime.

USA Swimming vs. Josh Weaver Meet on the Hill

Hargrave Aquatics’ 'A' caliber swimmers attended a highly competitive Josh Weaver meet with great gusto and enthusiasm. Making the trip was Jessica Abbott, Jason Reese and Jesse Conner. Several best times were posted, but the swimmers also saw that they had their work cut out for them over this long course season.

Varsity Basketball vs. Chatham HS

May 26, 2011

The Hargrave Tigers completed their season set against Chatham High School with a 77-68 victory. The Tigers fell behind early in the first quarter, 15-19. Ten points from Mike Rodriquez led a Tigers surge in the second quarter as Hargrave outscored Chatham 26-13 in the period.

Varsity Basketball vs. Liberty Christian

May 26, 2011

The Tigers improved to 6 – 0 on the season and 2 – 0 in VIC play with a victory over the Bulldogs of Liberty Christian Academy. Getting off to a slow start, Hargrave fell into a 10-2 hole in the first five minutes of the contest. Solid defense and offensive execution in the second quarter brought the Tigers back and Hargrave left the floor at the end of the first half with a 21-20 lead.

USA Swimming vs. BB/B/C MAC Spring Fling

A tragic event struck the team at the Spring Fling. The meet host did not receive Hargrave’s Aquatics’ entries to the event. Fortunately, the meet director entered our athletes into the meet despite this problem. Jennifer Murphy claimed several top ten finishes, including a few firsts. Other great swims included performances by Sarah Murphy, Katie Dougherty, Morgan dePaulo, Megan Bennett and up-and-comer Sarah Williams. Great job swimmers.

Varsity Basketball vs. North Cross School

May 26, 2011

The Tigers opened the 2008 with a hard fought victory over the Raiders of North Cross. Coming off a three week lay-off, Hargrave fell behind by 14 points early in the second quarter. A furious ending to the first half allowed the Tigers to tie the score at 34.

Varsity Basketball vs. Dan River HS

May 26, 2011

The Tigers closed out the month of December with an exciting win over Dan River High School. Hargrave again fell behind in the first quarter, 15-16. An early second quarter run allowed the Tiger to gain a six point lead, but the Wildcats came back and tied the score on a three point shot at the buzzer to tie the game at 30 all.

Varsity Basketball vs. Holy Cross

May 26, 2011

The Hargrave Tigers opened conference play with a contest against the Gaels of Holy Cross. After a closely contested first quarter, the Tigers were able to run away with the game. All nine players saw action and scored. The final score was 73-16.

Varsity Basketball vs. Chatham HS

May 26, 2011

Hargrave opened the 2007-2008 season with a victory over Chatham High School on Monday night. The Tigers overcame early game jitters to pull away for a 10 point victory. Chatham High was able to put together a solid first quarter, leading by three after the first buzzer. Unselfish play and timely shooting allowed the Tigers to regain the lead before half time, 33-30.
