Weather, Course Conditions, Competition Slow Down Tigers

The Runnin' Tigers took a trip to Roanoke, Virginia on Thursday afternoon for a tri-meet with North Cross and Roanoke Catholic. Hargrave ran hard and placed 3rd (62 points) behind North Cross (1st-21 points) and Roanoke Catholic (2nd-37 points).

Tigers Battle Heat; Fall to Virginia Episcopal School

The Hargrave Tigers took a short drive up Highway 29 to take on the Bishops of Virginia Episcopal School on Thursday afternoon. The Tigers ultimately fell 3-0 but showed great improvement in defeat.

XC Continues To Improve

The Tigers Cross Country team continues to lower their times as they placed fourth at the CHARCS Invitational this past weekend. Cooler weather, fast competition, and hard work resulted in improved performances throughout the team. This was evident as Mason Schrage (19:09) and Weley Marquardt (19:39) posted runs under twenty minutes for the first time this season. Luke Adkins (20:19), Negatu Syrcle (21:09) and Scott Kennedy (21:10) keep progressing and were able to score for the Tigers.

Varsity Soccer Building Success

On a beautiful Friday afternoon the Varsity Soccer team played one of their best games of the season against the Quakers of Tandem Friends School. The exciting match encompassed a full team effort that was displayed by all three goals being assisted. Nathan Anderson assisted on the first 2 goals of the game, one in the 7th minute and the other in the 19th minute. Goals were scored by Xiao ZhengNan and Julio Galindo respectively, as the team took a 2-1 lead at the break. In the 55th minute, Galindo again was able to connect off a pass from Daniel Pierce and the team had a healthy 3-1 lead. Although the match ended in a tie, the coaches are proud of the team as they are starting to play some of their best soccer of the season!  The Tigers will continue building upon this success as they take on New Covenant Tuesday Oct 1st.

XC Hitting Their Stride

The Hargrave Tigers cross country team placed second to VES, beating New Covenant and Fuqua at the Chatham Hall Invitational on Tuesday. Hargrave and New Covenant battled back and forth along the course, with the Tigers coming out victorious. Mason Schrage (21:38) came from behind to place first for Hargrave. Jaden Carter (21:45) scored second, Wesley Marquardt (21:59) scored third, Gage Crisp (22:44) scored fourth, and Scott Kennedy (22:50) scored fifth.

XC Starts Season At The Knights Crossing Invitational

The Cross Country Team started their season with the Knights Crossing Invitational on Saturday. After only a week of practice the Tigers placed 19th out of 21 schools in the small public high school and all private school division. The overall times were faster than the large school division. Our team would have placed lower but a mishap with the timing chip did not register two of our runners (Jay Thompson & Negatu Syrcle) who would have scored for us. The following Tigers scored in order of finish: Mason Schrage (20:17), Wes Marquardt (20:31), Adian Thomas (22:49), Caleb Chester (24:35), and Ethan Teluk (24:58). Bohong Yang (27:55) rounded out the field for Hargrave.  Great job Tigers!
