The Tigers took on a very skilled Eastern Mennonite team and came up short. Forrest Brown, Dapo Omisore, Nick Fallen and Kip Gore all had shots up front, but could not find the back of the net.

Varsity Soccer vs. Fishburne Military School

The Tigers held their own against Fishburne Military Academy and came earned a well deserved win. In the first half, Fishburne scored first in the m16th minute but Dapo Omisore was able to outmaneuver his defender and take a shot to tie us up in the 26th minute.

Playing our first game on turf at the Smith River Sports Complex in Martinsville, Virginia against the Carlisle Chiefs, the Tigers came out on the losing side of this one.

The Varsity soccer team took on the Bishops of VES and came out tied 1-1 after two overtime periods. The Bishop’s scored first in the 19th minute to give them the lead.

Varsity Soccer vs. Carlisle School

March 26, 2011

Hargrave faced a tough opponent in Carlisle but good pressure and a tough defense (Ben Baker, Josh Sadler, Evan Starks, and Nick Fallen), kept us competitive for much of the game! Carlisle scored first in the 26th minute to give them a 1-0 lead, but the Tigers battled back to tie it up in the 36th minute.

Varsity Soccer vs. Miller School

Hargrave lost to Miller School in a very close match. Scoring first was Forrest Brown in the second minute of action. Miller tied it up in the 7th minute but Raad Al-shinibr gave us the lead once again in the 14th minute of play by receiving a ball from Ben Baker and burying it in the back of the net. Unfortunately, Miller would come back with a couple goals and go into the half with a lead of 3-2.

The Hargrave Tigers gained a much needed win against Roanoke Catholic. Scoring in the 7th minute was Dapo Omisore with Miles Pilkington receiving the assist. Roanoke Catholic tied it up in the 9th minute.

HMA - 1 Covenant - 5 The Hargrave soccer team were first to score in the match against Covenant. Dapo Omisore, a recent arrival to the team, was able to chase down a chipped ball from Forrest Brown in the 6th minute of action and put the ball in the back of the net to give us the 1-0 lead. Covenant tied it up and went ahead by one goal for the majority of the 1st half.

Hargrave 0 - Holy Cross 5 Hargrave’s Tigers traveled to Lynchburg to take on Holy Cross. Sam Shuey had 9 saves in the goal and kept the Gaels at only two goals in the first half of action

Hargrave 1 - LCA 12 Hargrave played a good first half against LCA by applying pressure and really working to keep them contained. Kip Gore, Forrest Brown, Nick Fallen, and Raad Al-Shinibr applied a lot of pressure to their defense to the point of causing them to make enough mistakes to where they scored on themselves. Gore was the last Hargrave player to touch the ball before it went in the net and thus he is credited with our only goal of the game.

Hargrave 1 - North Cross 6 Hargrave faced a powerful competitor in North Cross. The Raiders were able to find the back of the net 5 times in the first half of action before we were able to manage their offense. Scoring Hargrave’s lone goal was Raad Al-Shinbr.

Hargrave 4 - New Covenant 5 Hargrave soccer opened its season against New Covenant in Lynchburg, VA. The Tigers came out fast and furious scoring 3 goals in the first 15 minutes of action. All three goals were scored by Forrest Brown with Kip Gore having two assists.

The Cross Country team ran Saturday at the Virginia Independent Conference Championship. The team placed seventh, lead by senior Jason Moore (32nd overall).

Hargrave placed third at the Fishburne Invitational. Dakota Litty placed first for the Tigers (9th overall), earning a top ten medal.

The Tigers performed well in front of cheering family and friends during Parents Weekend. Matt Divittorio, Dakota Litty, Emmanuel Clark, Dakota Wetherbee, and Anthony Morua all scored for Hargrave. Dwayne Williams (8th overall) and David Baptiste (11th overall) also ran well for the Tigers in the varsity race.

Varsity Cross Country vs. Covenant School

Hargrave struggled at the Covenant Invitational, placing ninth overall. The following cadets scored for the Tigers; Dakota Litty (32nd), Matt Divittorio (35th), Anthony Morua (44th), Dakota Wetherbee (45th), David Baptise (61st), Camble Caretto (63rd), and Binnings Arrowood ( 68th). Eighty nine runners competed in the varsity boys race

Varsity Cross Country vs. Chatham High School

The Cross Country Team was flat and fell to Chatham in their home opener. Matt DiVittorio posted his second first place finish for the Tigers (3rd overall). Dakota Wetherbee scored for the first time this year, placing fourth overall.

The Tigers keep improving! Hargrave placed second in their meet at North Cross School. Most of our runners posted improved times on the rugged mountainous course. Hargrave runners scored in seventh, eighth, ninth, tenth, and thirteenth place.
