Varsity Wrestling vs. Rustburg Invitational

The Tiger Wrestling team competed in the Rustburg Invitational on Friday and Saturday and came away with a 2nd place finish. The following wrestlers competed for Hargrave:

The Tiger Wrestling team opened their season with a first place finish in the Tiger Invitational. The team scores were: Hargrave 170, Patrick County 152, St. Christopher’s 142, Martinsville HS 126, Chatham HS 110, Rustburg HS 108, Liberty Christian 88, Virginia Episcopal 86.5, Tunstall HS 62 and Fishburne 56. The following wrestlers competed for Hargrave: 112 Seth Spears, 119 Adam Radan 1st (MVP), 125 Patrick Kelley 3rd, 130 Afsheen Robinson 2nd, 135 Teddy Wynne 1st, 140 John Nelson 4th, 145 John Hardin 3rd, 152 Patrick Snipes, 160 Klaeton Davis, 171 Bert Dye, 189 Tyler Klink, 215 William Holton 1st and 285 Jon Sterner 2nd. The Tigers return to action on Friday and Saturday when they travel to Rustburg to compete in the Rustburg Invitational.
Varsity Wrestling vs. Prep School Nationals

The four wrestlers that competed at Nationals are Andy Halonen, Adam Radan, Patrick Kelley and Zack Austin. Although we had no "placers" at the tournament the trip was a great experience for the guys. Thanks for all of your support during the season.
Varsity Wrestling vs. VISWA State Tournament

The Tiger wrestling team participated in the state tournament this weekend at St. Christopher’s School. The Tigers had a great team effort in placing 6th out of the 31 teams in the tournament. Leading the way for Hargrave was Andy Halonen at 171; Andy improved his season record to 36-1 and captured the state title. Overall the Tigers had eight wrestlers place in the tournament. The following wrestlers participated: 112 Adam Radan 5th place, 119 Patrick Kelley 4th place, 125 Afsheen Robinson, 130 Andrew Johnson 8th place, 135 Teddy Wynne, 140 Chris Mouton 8th place, 145 John Nelson, 152 Jerrit Reed 7th place, 171 Andy Halonen 1st place, 189 Stephen Smither, 215 Zack Austin 4th place and 275 Jon Sterner 6th place.
Varsity Wrestling vs. VIC Championship

The Tiger Wrestling team completed their run for the perfect season with a convincing VIC tournament championship. After finishing the regular season with a 23-0 record the team stayed on a roll scoring 188 points and outdistancing second place VES, which scored 149.5. The following wrestlers competed in the tournament: 103 John Adams 3rd, 112 Adam Radan 3rd, 119 Patrick Kelley 1st, 125 Afsheen Robinson 2nd, 130 Andrew Johnson 2nd, 135 Teddy Wynne 3rd, 140 Chris Mouton 2nd, 145 John Nelson 3rd, 152 Jerrit Reed 3rd, 160 Michael Burke, 171 Andy Halonen 1st, 189 Stephen Smither 3rd, 215 Zack Austin 2nd and 275 Jon Sterner 4th. Hargrave will compete in state tournament Feb. 17/18 at St. Christopher’s School.

The Tigers placed fourth out of fifteen schools at the Liberty Christian Invitational this weekend. Covington High School took top honors with a score of 215; the Tigers recorded a team score of 168. The following HMA wrestlers participated: 112 Adam Radan-1st place, 171 Andy Halonen-1st place, 119 Patrick Kelley-2nd place, 140 Chris Mouton-4th place, 130 Andrew Johnson-5th place, 152 Jerrit Reed-5th place, 189 Geoff Serrao-5th place, 215 Zack Autin-5th place, 125 Afsheen Robinson, 135 Teddy Wynne, 145 John Nelson, 160 Bert Dye and 275 William Holton.
