Varsity Soccer vs. VIC Playoff – Roanoke Catholic

Peter Morcombe headed the ball into the goal off a pass from Oscar Nelson to tie the game in the 43rd minute of play. Despite several attempts, the regulation time ran out and we went into overtime. With 45 seconds remaining in overtime, Ian Beliczky worked the ball into the back of the net to send Hargrave to the VIC Championship game. Geoff Frazier had 8 saves in goal.

Reid Adami scored the lone goal off Ian Beliczky's assist in the 53rd minute of action. Ian Beliczky had 4 saves and Geoff Frazier had 2 saves. The Tigers had 7 shots on goal but were unable to put enough heat on them to get them past the goalie. We will be playing Roanoke Catholic here at home on 13 May 2004 in a playoff game for the VIC championship.

Led by superb defensive and midfield play the Hargrave Tigers were able to better their record to 3-0 on the season with a 3-1 win over the Carlisle Chiefs.

The Tigers played a hard match against Patrick Henry and kept them scoreless in the first half of the game. Reid Adami scored for Hargrave in the 72nd minute of action with Ian Beliczky having the assist. Ian Beliczky had 13 saves on the game and Austin Wilson, Trent Erving, and Charles Amos really stepped up defensively.

Captain Josh Splinter struck first for Hargrave on his way to a two goal, two assist performance as he led his Tigers to a ten goal victory against Roanoke Catholic on Tuesday. Splinter opened the scoring 13 minutes into the game with a well-crossed ball across the face of the goal from midfielder Tony Cain to find Splinter on the back post. Midfielder Mike Badolato, adding his first of three on the day, would find the net for the Tiger's second goal of the match 14 minutes later off of perfectly threaded through-ball from Captain Scott Dinius. Three minutes later Badolato would add his second from a Heath Light cross to end the first half scoring for the Tigers at 3-0.

The Tigers scored the only goal in the first half when Austin Wilson scored off a free kick outside the 18. In the second half, Charles Amos had one goal while Ian Beliczky earned a hat-trick with three goals. Amos's goal was assisted by Austin Wilson and Beliczky's goals were assisted by Charles Amos and Reid Adami. Ian Beliczky also had 5 saves on goal and Geoff Frazier had one.

The Tigers were able to capitalize early on their scoring opportunities against Westover Christian on their way to a 9-1 finish against the Bulldogs.

Tiger defender Austin Wilson scored in the 16th minute off a pass from Patrick Bates. Bates then scored unassisted in the 17th minute of action. Halfack Reid Adami scored in the 30th minute off an assist by Oscar Nelson to finish the scoring in the first half. In the second half, Austin Wilson scored his second goal of the game off a perfect cornerkick from Charles Amos and Kayode Ogunnaike finished with a goal of his own in the 68th minute. Geoff Frazier had 3 saves on the game.

With 11 shots apiece, North Cross was able to finish 4 of their attempts while the Tigers did not capitalize on theirs. Austin Wilson played a key role defensively while Ian Beliczky had 7 saves and Geoff Frazier had 2.

The Tigers got off to an early lead when Patrick Bates scored in the 9th minute of action off an assist by keeper Ian Beliczky. Charles Amos ended the first half scoring in the 31st minute off an assist by Patrick Bates. Oscar Nelson had the lone goal in the 62nd minute of play. Ian Beliczky had 3 saves and Geoffrey Frazier had 6 saves to share the shutout.
